What to do if you have had to postpone your wedding due to the coronavirus?
These days I'm receiving many messages from brides-to-be who have had to postpone their weddings due to the coronavirus . A few months ago, no one imagined we would reach this pandemic situation. But it has happened, and we are here to help you with your changes of plans due to Covid-19 .
Coronavirus: Postponing the wedding doesn't mean canceling it
The first step is to stay calm . You may have spent months or even more than a year planning your perfect wedding , so it's normal to feel frustrated or sad. Let those emotions surface, share your concerns with family and friends, and with your partner, but don't let them overwhelm you.
There's a quote I love that I have hanging on my wall: "Feelings are much like waves; we can't stop them from coming, but we can choose which one to surf." If you love surfing as much as I do, you'll totally relate. And it's true. Feel your emotions and give them space, but then readjust your thoughts to reality . Yes, you've had to postpone your wedding because of Covid-19, but better times are coming. And you'll have that wonderful wedding you've always dreamed of!

The help of the wedding planner
If you have a wedding planner, she'll handle all the consequences of Covid-19. She's probably already been in touch to discuss things like the venue, catering, and everything else you've already booked. You're in good hands, so let her advise you. And if you'd like us to recommend a fantastic wedding planner, we love Bendito Sarao .
I don't have a wedding planner for my wedding, where do I start?
First, contact the venue or church where the wedding was going to be held. Then you'll need to do the same with the caterer, photographer, DJ… The entire industry is very aware of the situation and wants what's best for you, so they'll do everything they can to make things easier. You'll see how understanding they are and how they'll help you get organized again.
For now, professionals are working on postponing May weddings, although the situation could drag on. They are considering working more hours and opening on days not previously scheduled, such as Fridays and Sundays, so you can have your wedding this year . Prepare a schedule to see how you could adjust all the changes, for example, in an Excel spreadsheet. Or add a tab to the spreadsheet you already have to track your wedding expenses.
Changes to your wedding dress
Due to the coronavirus, many couples are choosing to postpone their April and May weddings to September and October . The question you might be asking yourself is, "What about my wedding dress?" If your dress is a Mimètik, you can easily adapt it for autumn. In fact, versatility is one of our core values, and now is when it's most evident. But whether your dress is a Mimètik or not, it's simply a matter of making a few adjustments:
Complete your wedding dress with a denim or leather jacket
This casual mix is a favorite among many of my Mimètik Brides, and I keep recommending it to our brides-to-be. Autumn isn't particularly cool in Spain, but you'll definitely benefit from having that second layer. Not to mention how cool you'll feel with that casual piece over your bohemian dress ! Look how great it looks on Mercè. I loved that she shared her photos with us during such special moments, so I immediately uploaded them to my Stories.

Your boho dress paired with a knitted shawl
I recently saw this combination on one of my brides, Anna, and I thought it was absolutely perfect! It looks amazing; the shawl goes perfectly with the beatnik crop top , and it keeps you warm at all times. If you like a handmade look, your mother or grandmother could make the shawl for you. It doesn't get more handmade than that!

Add a Frida bolero
Our Frida model is the quintessential choice for autumn and winter brides. To your existing dress, you can add a Frida bolero in Ivory or Champagne lace for milder climates, or a Frida Essential bolero if it's going to be colder. And for my more daring brides: nothing beats a touch of color !

Choose a Frida Essential and add all the accessories that best define you
If there's one thing that sets us apart, it's our speed in making and shipping wedding dresses. So you might be reading this and not have actually chosen your dress yet. No problem! For last-minute brides, we have the "Bride in a Hurry" category: you choose a standard-size dress and you'll have it at home in two to three weeks. Fantastic, right? For that autumn wedding, you can choose one of our wonderful Frida models. Postponing your wedding due to Coronavirus: Notify your family and friends
Once you've spoken with your vendors and have new dates , don't forget to let your guests know. I'm sure they'll be incredibly understanding. Remember: they want to see you happy and radiant on your big day. And did you know we also make bridesmaid and party dresses ? You can take advantage of announcing the new date to recommend they visit our website. For example, suggest they check out this Frida dress in marsala or our Velvet collection . They'll also have to make changes to their outfits , and I'm sure they'll appreciate any help you can offer!

Bridesmaids: feel more supported than ever on your wedding day
Have you considered having bridesmaids at your wedding? Perhaps you initially dismissed the idea, but now, with the world turned upside down due to the coronavirus, you need the most important women in your life by your side more than ever. Why not make them this lovely proposal? Believe me, it will be incredibly exciting. And they will feel like the luckiest women in the world. You've had to postpone your wedding because of the coronavirus; they know what that means and they want to be there for you.
Let me explain that the magic of Mimètik lies in our Infinity dresses: one dress, a thousand ways to wear it . Imagine all your friends by your side, dressed alike, but with the opportunity for each of them to showcase that unique and exceptional personality. For example, they could all wear this gorgeous burgundy dress, but each could add a personal touch in the way they tie it.
Time to get inspired for your bohemian wedding
You know I love the DIY community , and that's how I started my business. Why not use these next few weeks to make gifts for your guests? Or prepare games, as I explain in this other article: 5 Original Wedding Games . These past few weeks I've been sharing content on my Instagram that you might find very useful, with photos of other brides that can inspire you or offer advice for these days. You have time! Make the most of it!
Honeymoon and the coronavirus
Again, in general, couples are opting to postpone rather than cancel. Perhaps this is the biggest uncertainty, since many countries currently have their borders closed , and we don't know how long this situation will last. I'm sure that both the travel agency and all the suppliers for your honeymoon will be very attentive to you and will work to find the best solution. Postponing your wedding due to Coronavirus: the most important thing is your attitude
If you had to take away just one idea from this article, I'd like it to be this: everything will be alright. Focus on being well, staying calm, and changing what you can change, which is your attitude. Better times are coming, I'm sure of it. And you'll have that wedding you've always dreamed of, surrounded by your loved ones, and you'll be incredibly happy . As Sinatra said: the best is yet to come!
A huge hug,
