They say a bride must wear four things to be lucky: something new, something old, something borrowed and something blue. I’m not very superstitious, and I don’t know if Sara and Jesus fulfilled all the slogans at their bohemian wedding, but I assure you it’s one of the happiest weddings I’ve ever seen.
As you already know, I appreciate a lot when you send us pictures of your wedding. I love to see where the story of that girl who came to see us one day goes to our bridal atelier in Barcelona or the one who asked us your questions online and had her dress at home in a week. I feel super lucky. And I love the photos as if I were present that day. That’s why when Sara sent us pictures of her big day, which reflected so much energy and good vibes, I was really happy. I don’t think there was a better way to thank her than to show the world that happy and unique day.
The nearest love story
Sara and Jesus met in their hometown of Menorca. I’ve been to Menorca and I can tell you it’s a beautiful island, with blue seas and a breeze with which it is happy to walk along its wonderful beaches, so I can not think of a better scenario for their story. Sara was walking through the streets of the old town. At a bar, he met a former roommate of his brother. She was going just to say hello, but she stayed to talk to that handsome boy who was with him. That boy was Jesus. And Sara forgot where she was going and decided to stay all night talking to him until they gave each other their number. And so little by little, they continued to speak, getting to know each other, falling in love… until the end of this relationship in a beautiful and happy bohemian wedding ♥
A simple couple
Sara tells me that they would be defined as a simple couple. They like to go to the cinema, the beach in summer and to the mountain in winter, and above all enjoy a good afternoon on the sofa. However, their two children make Sunday afternoons a children’s play!
Although Jesus is more of a sport and Sara is more defined as “beer and friends”, there is something that is passionate and unites Sarah and Jesus to the fullest: travel. They are total savings enthusiasts to travel as much as possible. And I can’t think of a better idea. I find it a wonderful thing that a couple like Sara and Jesus, with a thousand things to do and two children, continue to seek new adventures to enter their lives. And from experience, I will say that, whether it’s short or long distances, seeing the world creates a better version of yourself.
An intimate proposition
Sara had been dreaming for more than two years that wanted to get married in a lovely bohemian wedding, but Jesus didn’t define himself as someone “of those things,” so the subject was a little in the air. One day, they decided to take a trip to Andorra on their own. They spent all day skiing and relaxing in a SPA, and then went in search of a restaurant to dine at. It was freezing, (they were at -4oC!), and they found nothing. They walked and walked until they found a bar where they served some tapas. They ordered something to eat and a bottle of wine.
When they left the bar, Jesus looked both ways, saw that there was no one, knelt, and asked Sara the big question! And Sara weeping with happiness, of course, her dream had come true! They were getting married! And Jesus had set his shame aside to make his partner’s dream come true. I find it a simple and super-emotional story at the same time. Lovely ♥
The happy (and blue) bohemian wedding
And at last the bohemian wedding of Sarah and Jesus came! As it could not be otherwise, the wedding was in Ciutadella, in Menorca. And the truth is that I find the chosen scenario super exciting, because was no more or less than the cocktail bar where they met a few years earlier. The ceremony was in the garden, and you can see in the photos that it was something beautiful. As I told you at the beginning of the post, there are many different traditions when it comes to weddings. One of them is to throw rice at the newlyweds in a symbol of good luck. For Sarah and Jesus had their personalized tradition: the guests made them fall on them with a shower of hazelnuts (with a lot of love), typical of the festivities of Sant Joan in Menorca. Super original!
When the ceremony was over, a motorbike with sidecar awaited them to take a walk through the streets of Ciutadella. This bohemian wedding couldn’t be cooler! Adding a vehicle with such style gives a lot of character to the wedding, I love it! In fact, Cristina, who chose a Mimètik for her bridesmaids, also included a van in their bohemian wedding. In addition the color of the wedding was blue, as you can see in the decorations, in Jesus suit, and in the accessories of Sara, so they decided to continue with this theme and add some blue balloons to the sidecar. The truth is, it couldn’t have gone any better. Our Mimètik girls are super original ♥
The most personal party
In the banquet part of their bohemian wedding, Sara and Jesus prepared everything with so much mime. They even created the centerpieces themselves! But there’s one detail that fell in love with me as soon as Sara showed me her wedding photos. The detail are a few personalized photos they put on every guest site, some pictures of when each was little. I think it’s a great idea because that’s how everyone knows where to sit in a beautiful and super emotional way. And besides, each photo went with a pin, so each guest could put it on the suit so everyone knew what his or her name was (and how he or she was when he or she was little). It’s a super personal thing, it’s the kind of details that make the difference.
Bohemian wedding dress ♥
Sara had clear from the beginning that she wanted a bohemian wedding and that she needed a bohemian wedding dress. So he toured all the shops in Menorca and Mallorca and there was no luck, nothing convinced her. He decided to look at online stores that were in Barcelona, as she has relatives who live here. She arranged everything for an express getaway and made some appointments. The truth is I’m very excited about how Sara explains it. And I’m more excited that she still remember all the details. So I’d rather have her tell you how she lived her first moment with Mimètik:
“The first date was at 11 with Mimètik. I went up the stairs. They opened the door for me and in the mannequin I saw my dress. I’ve seen it online, but I got very emotive in person. I tried it on and I knew that was my dress. The other quotes I annulled them, look no further. We went to celebrate, my sister, my sister-in-law, and I. I had the dress! It was so great.”
The truth is that Sara was gorgeous with her Frida Bohemian in Champagne lace. I love Sara’s spirit, because then at the party she changed her position dress and turned it into a Gala Bohemian in Champagne lace simply with the help of ancillary strips, Total! In addition, as I mentioned earlier, Sara decided to go with the “something blue” of weddings, and chose to introduce some details in this color as accessories and even shoes. I think it’s super original. It gives a lot of personality to the bride, and that brings a touch of color and joy, super representative of our Mimètik Brides ♥
Tip for future brides
“Enjoy a lot of preparations and, even if it rings a cliché, enjoy the whole wedding because it is a magical and unforgettable day.”
As you can see, Sara and Jesus’ bohemian wedding was a super happy day, with a few touches of blue and a sidecar that gave it all the personality that this couple gives off. I want to thank you both for making us part of your story, and especially Sara for choosing us. I can’t be more delighted that you’re a Mimètik Bride, you’re light and I wish you all the best.
Finally, I want to thank Carles Mascaró by these beautiful photographs that manage to convey all the good energy and happiness that I am sure lived on such a special day. He has also done an article about this beautiful bohemian wedding with lots of photos, I’ll leave it here in case you want to take a look at it.
Lots of love,
