This post comes from far away…Marta writes me from Koh Chang Island, in Thailand. She and her husband, Albert, have just started a trip around the world. And I envy them a lot when she explains me the details that made last May 30th, a unique day.
But let’s start from the beginning.
Their journey started 9 years ago, when they met each other in a friend’s concert. Since then everybody knows them as MACASH, name that is made of their first initials. That is true love!
This lovely couple share a big hobby, traveling; and they are also great hosts, they love healthy food and organizing parties at home. So I don’t discard auto inviting myself when they come back, to see the pictures of their long trip 😉
Albert prepared a gymkhana at their home with a lot of presents related to the long trip they were preparing. His last present was inside a small box, a necklace with a turtle pendant, Marta’s favorite animal. He knew that she doesn’t like wearing rings and that she would appreciate much more his special proposal. And she was excited.
Marta and Albert planned their wedding as a double celebration: a good-bye party before leaving for their round-the-world trip and, at the same time, the celebration of their love.
The bride and the groom decided to celebrate two weddings with one week between them. The first one, only for the family, and the second one, for the friends, that lasted all the weekend and it was full of experiences. You can see all the crazy activities they did in their website, created especially for the occasion www.macash.es. I think that having your own website for the wedding is a great idea, it helps a lot with the communication and you don’t have to send the classical paper invitations. I’ll keep this in mind!

There was no question about that, Marta and Albert wanted their friends to have a special role in the rustic wedding, being part of it. The way to make them participate was organizing a flower workshop to prepare the table decoration and the flower crowns they’d be wearing in the wedding. Rosa, a friend of the bride and owner of Au nom de la Rose, took care of showing how to work with flowers. It’s an awesome idea to share knowledge and make a relaxed and familiar atmosphere before the wedding.
And then the ceremony started, officiated by two close friends with speeches from all the people who wanted to dedicate some words to the couple. Surrounded by fruit trees, sitting on rustic blankets, drinking beer and eating some nuts, they enjoyed a private concert with their friend Lieven, from A Singer of Songs. It was without a doubt a magical moment, the kind of moment that makes you want to stop time.
Marta didn’t have problems finding one dress for her civil wedding and a skirt for the rustic wedding that they wanted to celebrate with friends. She only needed to find the top for the skirt she had chosen, when, by chance, she meet Mimètik Bcn and changed her mind:
” Sometimes I watched wedding programs that help brides to find their perfect dress. And when I tried on this dress, I had the same feeling. It was “The Dress”. I was excited, it seemed to be designed for me! So I couldn’t avoid it, that dress had to be mine.”
Tips for brides
“I don’t think I’m the best to give advice to the brides, because I’m like the antithesis of the typical bride. But what I learned is that it’s just perfect even if it doesn’t go everything as you planned. The most important thing is having all your loved ones with you. Another recommendation is the floral workshop we organized. We didn’t expected, but it was such a success. People like to participate in the organization and have a lot of fun. And the flower crowns were amazing!”
With their history, Marta has transmitted me a big excitement and naturalness. I think that’s their secret: taking pleasure in the small thinks, that ones that are really important. With this attitude I’m sure they will enjoy to the fullest their round-the-world trip.
I wish them all the best in this year full of discovery and adventure.
And love, lots of love.
